A practical three-series CPD pathway that builds leadership confidence, coaching capability and mentoring effectiveness — moving from leadership and coaching literacy, through applied practice, to strategic leadership and coaching-culture transformation.
Lead. Coach. Mentor. Transform.
Organisations rely on managers and senior leaders to develop their people, yet many move into leadership without practical coaching and mentoring skills. Guidance is often informal, feedback inconsistent, and talent developed by chance rather than design.
This pathway builds leadership, coaching and mentoring capability in a practical, progressive way — helping individuals lead well and hold better developmental conversations, and helping organisations build a coaching culture that develops talent and improves performance. It is designed as a series of practical CPD activities, not a long academic course.
Eight two-hour workshops per series — two sessions a week over four weeks. Take one series on its own, or progress through the full pathway — each series ends with a practical output your organisation keeps.
Series One · Beginner — leadership, coaching and mentoring literacy, confidence and practical awareness.
Output · Leadership, Coaching & Mentoring Starter Pack
Leadership versus management, ethical influence and role modelling.
A personal leadership, coaching and mentoring plan.
Series Two · Intermediate — practical coaching, mentoring and leadership capability for developing people.
Output · Applied Coaching & Mentoring Practice Portfolio
Clear agreements, expectations and success criteria.
A practical practice portfolio for workplace use.
Series Three · Advanced — embedding coaching behaviours, developing talent and improving organisational performance.
Output · Strategic Leadership & Coaching Culture Roadmap
Systems thinking, ethical influence and stakeholder trust.
A strategic roadmap for coaching culture and mentoring impact.
Every session combines short expert input with facilitated discussion and applied practice: real public- and private-sector cases, decision-making exercises, role plays and simulations, peer coaching and workplace application. Cases reflect the constraints leaders actually face — limited resources, organisational politics, public accountability, competing stakeholder interests and incomplete information.
Between sessions, peer-coaching groups, facilitator-led clinics and sponsor check-ins keep the learning attached to genuine organisational challenges rather than theory in isolation.
A CPD Certificate is awarded for each series by the Institute of Administrative Management (UK) — three certificates across the Beginner → Intermediate → Advanced pathway.
In-house delivery is tailored to your sector and priorities, and becomes the better value from around five participants. Bespoke versions, single seriess and multi-cohort rollouts are all available — tell us the context and we’ll shape it to fit.
Frameworks & references · ICF Core Competencies · EMCC professional practice frameworks · CMI Professional Standards · ILM coaching and mentoring qualifications · contemporary research on feedback, trust and psychological safety
